The 4D Process to a Perfect Project: Step 3 - Design

The 4D Process to a Perfect Project: Step 3 - Design

01 Mar 2024

At Yellow Panther, we are committed to building beautifully made bespoke products that match your needs both in design and functionality.

To ensure this, we go by our 4D process to build the most effective digital product for your business.

Discover, Define, Design, and Develop.

Each step is crucial and this article will walk through the third step, Design.

In the third stage of the project process, we begin the journey of design, where creativity meets data-driven decisions that shape powerful websites and apps. Our approach is founded on three pillars: beauty, clarity, and impact, all grounded in the objective power of data.

The team draws inspiration not only from industry trends but also from the world's best brands, both inside and outside of the project’s sector, fostering uniqueness and innovation. Using mindmaps and moodboards we build the feel and tone of the website or app before we start the wireframing process. This is where your brand book (if available) comes into play. The design team will use this to create the right elements to fit your platform on Figma, these then get put into action in the wireframes and subsequent prototypes.

Wireframing is where the bones of your platform are laid out and the focus is solely on the UX (User Experience) of the UX/UI. This helps designers and project managers review the user flow of the site and decide the best placement for each element without the distraction of colour and brand.

Once the wireframes are completed and approved internally, colour, branding, and texture get involved. Prototypes are where you begin to see the platform come to life. Accessibility is key in prototyping to make sure that the platform can be used by any user. Here we can use tools such as colour checkers or other accessibility guides. This stage brings in the client so you can give your crucial input into how you want your branding to display. Through feedback rounds, the client, and ourselves can bounce ideas off of each other and make your vision a reality.

After the usual back and forth that comes with the design phase, the moment we've been waiting for arrives… approval! This is a crucial point in the project roadmap where we can begin the next phase, Development.
